2015-16 North Dakota Officials Association Hall Of Fame Inductees

VALLEY CITY, ND (September 16, 2015) –The North Dakota Officials Association (NDOA) announces the 46th induction class to the 2015-16 Hall of Fame as determined at its recent Board of Directors meeting.  The inductees will be recognized and receive awards at various North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) events during the 2015-16 school year.

 

Karen Dahlseng – Fargo

Dahlseng is a thirty-seven-year veteran of gymnastics officiating.  During that time, Karen officiated in many State Gymnastics Meets as a judge during her 37 years, serving as State Meet Referee in five of them.  She also officiated over thirty region meets.  Karen’s two favorite events to judge were the vault and the beam.  Karen currently works at Sanford Health in Fargo.  She and her husband Don have two children Shawn and Katie.

 

Jerry Ford – Lisbon

Jerry Ford officiated basketball for over 35 years.  Over his 35-year career, he officiated in three State B Basketball Tournaments and many Region Tournaments.  Jerry showed that hard work and the drive to always improve, makes a great official.  He was also a great recruiter of officials, bringing in and mentoring young officials.  Jerry passed away in July of 2013.  He and his wife Mary (deceased) have two sons, Scott and Benjamin.

 

Jim Kindschi – Bismarck

Jim has had a huge impact on swimming and diving in North Dakota.  Over the past 12 years, Jim has officiated 18 State Swim and Dive meets, serving as either the Swim Referee or Dive Referee at a majority of them.  Prior to officiating Swim and Dive, Jim was a longtime dive coach in the Bismarck school system.  Kindschi also does the scheduling of swim officials in Bismarck, Mandan, and Jamestown. Jim has also worked as an official at many State and Region Track Meets.  In 2013, Jim retired from being a school counselor after 37 years.  Jim and his wife Kathy have four children, Andrea, Jessica, John, and Heidi.

 

Mark Luther – Minot

Mark Luther officiated baseball for 37 years, finally retiring last spring after the State B Tournament.  Mark umpired in over 20 State High School Tournaments, and numerous State and Midwest Regional Legion Tournaments.  Mark is also a member of the American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame in North Dakota.  Mark is retired, and he and his wife Judy have two daughters, Nicole and Sarah.

 

Ron Seeley – Williston

Ron was a longtime baseball and football official from Williston.  Ron worked almost every Class A State Baseball Tournament from when it was sanctioned until 2006.  His football crew also worked numerous playoff games, including  four State Championship games.  In addition, he worked one American Legion World Series, and three Legion National Regionals. Seeley was the President of the Williston Officials Association for many years.  He is a retired dentist, and he and his wife Kathy have three children, Bryan, Amanda, and Alaina.

 

The NDOA has inducted 132 officials into its Hall of Fame since the inaugural class in 1965.  Plaques commemorating all Hall of Fame members are housed in the North Dakota Athletic Hall of Fame, located inside the Jamestown Civic Center.
