West Fargo, Bismarck St. Mary's Top 3A and 2A Week 1 Football Polls

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The first 2016 football polls for North Dakota’s Class 3A and Class 2A divisions are out.

After Week 1, West Fargo tops the 3A poll and Bismarck St. Mary’s heads the 2A poll voted on by members of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NDAPSSA).

The Packers opened the season with a 41-20 victory over 2015 NDHSAA Class 3A state runner up Minot on Aug. 26 at West Fargo High School. West Fargo received eight first-place votes.

Defending 2015 NDHSAA Class 3A state champion Bismarck Century received five first-place votes after opening the season with a 43-14 win over Grand Forks Red River.

Bismarck (1-0), Fargo South (1-0, one first place vote) and Minot (0-1) rounded out the 3A poll.

Bismarck St. Mary’s – 2015 NDHSAA Class 2A runner up – received 10 first place votes after defeating Fargo Shanley 18-7 in the season opener at Sid Cichy Stadium in Fargo.

Defending 2015 NDHSAA Class 2A state champion Beulah received three first-place votes and finished tied with Valley City for second place in the Week 1 poll with 44 total votes apiece.

Shanley (0-1) and Dickinson Trinity (1-0, one first place vote) rounded out the 2A poll.

5. Dickinson Trinity (1) 1-0 17
Others Receiving Votes: Central Cass (1-0), Kindred (1-0)
