NDHSAA Board looking to realign basketball and volleyball

The NDHSAA Board is looking at realigning the Districts and Regions in Class B boys and girls basketball, and volleyball.  The hope of the new plan is to balance the number of teams in each district and region.  This would be the first realignment in Class B Regions and Districts since the 1996-97 school year.

In August, a realignment plan was sent out to schools to look over and comment on.  On September 17, the realignment committee will meet to discuss any contacts that they or the NDHSAA staff had from member schools concerning proposed changes.

Here is the number of teams in each region for boys basketball for the current 2013-14 season and the proposed realignment:

                                                   13-14          Proposal

                        Region 1 –      16 teams        14 teams

                        Region 2 –      13 teams        13 teams
