NDHSAA Announces Media Specialist Position Opening

The North Dakota High School Activities Association announces a Media Specialist position opening.  Position summary, requirements and responsibilities are listed below.

Completed applications will be received in the NDHSAA Office until 4:00 pm March 29.  Interviews are scheduled for April 8 with a successful candidate announced April 19.

NDHSAA Media Specialist

Summary:

The Media Specialist communicates NDHSAA information with Association audiences including, but not limited to, member schools, news media, broadcast companies and the general public. The Media Specialist shall advise the organization’s Board of Directors and staff about the most effective and creative ways to publicize the NDHSAA’s mission and activities at all levels of sanctioned events. The Media Specialist must have a thorough knowledge of educational athletic and fine arts activities and be able to communicate the value of participating in those activities.

Requirements:

  • A degree in communications, marketing, journalism, sports information or related area is preferred. Required skills include technology, internet streaming, and social media platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an organizational presence on social media including Facebook, Twitter, and other new and emerging media platforms.
  • Communicate with tournament managers concerning media.
  • Coordinate media credentialing at state tournaments.
  • Coordinate linear and webstream broadcasts with current NDHSAA media companies.
  • Establish and coordinate agreements and logistics for linear and web stream broadcasts of NDHSAA post-season events declined under current contracts.
  • Maintain and coordinate NDHSAANOW website content including updating brackets, listing tournament information, posting billboards, developing periodic human-interest stories, and posting tournament results.
  • Coordinate and layout design of monthly Bulletin (9 issues/year).
  • Scan programs and yearbooks for web posting.

General:

  • Coordinate collection of information required to maintain a database of news media and their personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Salary will be determined commensurate with experience and other related qualifications with a minimum of $50,000. A comprehensive benefit plan is also provided.
