Carson Wentz named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Former Bismarck Century football standout Carson Wentz is off to a 3-0 start as a rookie starting quarterback in the National Football League.

Wentz has garnered a lot of national attention after stellar, interception-free play with the Philadelphia Eagles in the opening weeks of the 2016 season.

Following a 34-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in which Wentz threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns, the 2011 Bismarck Century graduate was named the National Football Conference (NFC) Offensive Player of the Week.

To date, Wentz has thrown for 579 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions. The Eagles have a bye in Week 4.

Wentz was drafted No. 2 overall by the Eagles in the 2016 NFL Draft in April following a standout career at North Dakota State. Wentz was injured part of the preseason was thrust into the starting job when the team traded Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 3.

Wentz earned All-State honors as a senior quarterback for the Bismarck Century Patriots in 2010.
